Directories are a valuable resource for local, family and social historians as well as for researchers in other fields of Australian history.
Published in 1863, this edition of Pugh's Almanac and Queensland Directory was the 5th edition published, and covers mainly Queensland country towns (not Brisbane itself), and lists the names and professions of some persons in government positions. It also includes a comprehensive almanac section giving information on weather, events, history of the colony, the government and more.
Directories are an extremely useful tool for establishing when and where a person lived. However this is just a starting point. Look further in the directory to find out more information about the society in which they lived, the occupation they held and the people they knew.
This product provides a great tool for researching Queensland history making information that is difficult to find plainly and easily accessible on one CD.
This ebook is a the same as the CD version from Archive Digital Books Australasia which is available from Gould Genealogy & other retailers. This CD contains high quality scanned images of the whole original volume, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
